ONE YEAR!, our collection of photos from the Minersโ€™ Strike, examines the vital role that photographs played in the struggle against pit closures in 1984-85. Created to accompany the original exhibition shown at The Martin Parr Foundation, and in collaboration with exhibition curator Isaac Blease, this comprehensive volume features over 200 pages of powerful work from nine photographers, ephemera related to the strike, and insightful texts and interviews.ย

The softback second edition of Ian Beesleyโ€™s Life collects images from in and around Bradford – including Esholt sewage works, where Beesley had worked himself, the streets around Eccelshill, the mills and factories that supplied them, and the miners of Hay Royds Colliery, as well as portraits from Beesley’s Born in Bradford project.

And finally, Janine Wiedelโ€™s Vulcanโ€™s Forge includes over 250 pages and 300 images, in a cloth-bound hardback edition. Wiedel traveled across the West Midlands between 1977 and 1979, in a van that served as both accommodation and a temporary darkroom, shooting everything from the drop forges in Aston, Birmingham, to the chainmakers of Cradley Heath, the Collieries and the potteries of Spode, Stoke-on-Trent. The result is a truly extraordinary archive of a time and place, which also includes interviews and archival material from the original 1979 exhibition of the works.
