In 1974, photographer Chris Hunt lived in Beeton Grove โ a short cul-de-sac of terraced houses in Longsight, close to Manchester city centre. Fascinated by his neighbours – a mix of English, Irish, Pakistani and Cypriot families – he decided to record their lives. Armed with a tape recorder and camera, he created a unique picture of life in a working class street during the austerity years of the 1970s.
