The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation began life as the Lung Cancer Fund and is the only charity wholly dedicated to the elimination of this devastating cancer.
The book traces the history of this phenomenal charity in the words of its founder, highlighting the ordinary people, the media, the celebrities and the scientists who have made it happen. In particular, it pays tribute to Roy Castle for his courage, sincerity, faith and good humour in facing up to a diagnosis of advanced lung cancer and his determination to do everything he possibly could to protect future generations from suffering the consequences of an abominable disease, which had hitherto been largely neglected and worthy of the title 'Cinderella Cancer'.
